Perhaps it is the opportunity to spend meaningful time with everyone who has come to celebrate with you. Perhaps it is the feeling that the day can be a little more relaxed, personal and unhurried. Or perhaps you simply know that your perfect wedding has never been about having a large guest list.
At Nettlestead Place, we understand.
Our Intimate Collection has been designed for couples who would like to celebrate with 30 to 50 guests, while enjoying the beauty, character and privacy of Nettlestead Place.
An intimate wedding here isn’t a scaled-down version of a larger wedding. The setting remains just as beautiful, the food just as carefully considered and the attention to detail just as important.
Your celebration takes place within the same beautiful private estate, surrounded by ten acres of gardens and the character of our historic family home. Depending on your plans, this might mean exchanging vows in the Rose Garden beneath the gazebo, enjoying drinks and canapés in the gardens, or celebrating together in our stylish marquee.
The difference is simply the number of people with whom you choose to share it.
With a smaller gathering, there is less need for a long wedding day designed around accommodating a large number of guests.
Our Intimate Collection is therefore shaped around a more considered timeframe – giving you plenty of opportunity to enjoy the important moments, without stretching the day simply for the sake of it.
The result is a celebration that feels wonderfully full, rather than long. More time spent talking, laughing, eating, drinking and being together with the people who matter most.
In many ways, it’s the essence of an intimate wedding:
Less of the unnecessary, and more of what matters
Nettlestead Place is a privately owned family home, and we deliberately host only a limited number of weddings each year.
That philosophy becomes particularly meaningful when you’re planning a smaller celebration.
We want couples to feel that they have discovered somewhere rather special – somewhere that doesn’t feel like a busy wedding venue hosting celebration after celebration.
Our gardens are a passion of the owners, and limiting the number of weddings gives our gardeners the opportunity to care for the estate throughout the season to the standards we expect.
There is also something rather lovely about bringing your closest family and friends somewhere that most of them may never have visited before.
Indeed, some couples tell us that one of the things they love about Nettlestead Place is that no family member or friend has been married here before. It makes the occasion feel uniquely theirs.
A smaller guest list doesn’t mean compromising on the food.
Our culinary team, led by Head Chef Fernando, creates wedding menus with the same care and attention whether you’re celebrating with 30 guests or a larger gathering.
Fernando brings a wealth of experience and a genuinely broad culinary perspective, influenced by his cultural background, travels and family life, including his Spanish heritage through his wife. His experience with different cuisines and flavours means that couples are not limited to a narrow idea of what wedding food should be.
It’s one of the reasons we believe there is little need to look elsewhere simply because you have particular cultural or culinary requirements.
One of the great advantages of a smaller wedding is the freedom it can give you.
You may want a beautiful ceremony followed by drinks, canapés and a relaxed wedding breakfast. You may have a very clear vision already, or you may simply know that you want something personal and memorable without an unnecessarily complicated day.
Our team is here to help you shape it.
And because we deliberately host a limited number of weddings each season, we have the time and space to give each celebration the attention it deserves.
“Amazing day, not a single iota of stress! Things just went on in the background as they should and it really was a load off our minds. Sharon was outstanding on the day, such a calming influence.”
